New York Wedding Gown Trends for 2012-13

Categories: Dresses

Have you, like us, been poring over the recent New York Bridal Fashion Week images? We pull out some of our wedding gown highlights...

lllusion necklines give strapless gowns proportion and help to hold everything in place. Embellishment that extends up from the bodice creates a flattering sweetheart neckline without revealing too much skin (Amsale pictured above).

Covering up might be better suited to cooler climates, but sheer sleeves are a great way to achieve that extra bit of coverage in warmer weather. Suited to both fitted and looser, flowing bodices, cuff detailing is a pretty edition to close-up ring snaps (Claire Pettibone pictured above).

Lace layers add dimension to silks without bulking them out, adding interest but keeping a slim silhouette. Lace that extends beyond the neckline is beautiful against bare skin (Romona Keveza pictured above).

Though white is firmly back on-trend for 2013 (see Vera Wang), colour like soft champagnes and pinks are a nice compliment to tanned complexions in the summer months. For the classic bride, try bursts of colour in the dress’ detailing that tie-in with the bouquet (Watters pictured above).
