Amber + Theo

It was a cloudy May day in Canberra and the bride had woken up with a cold, but as the clouds parted and the adrenalin took over, Amber and Theo celebrated in capital style.

Amber and Theo had known each other for over a decade - he was friends with the bride's brother – before they bumped into each other in the classiest of locations – the line outside of a nightclub. This reconnection kindled a spark between them and the rest, as they say, is history.

The proposal took place on a freezing cold hot air balloon ride over Canberra as Amber recalls, “ was a freezing frosty morning and Theo dragged me out of bed at 5am, still dark! I remember the feeling of being so excited I didn’t even want to wear a jacket.” Afterwards they warmed up over a beautiful breakfast at the Hyatt Hotel.

The bride's gorgeous, mermaid silhouette, Provonias gown was purchased from Bridal Secrets in Parramatta, while her bridesmaids were fitted out at La Belle Bridal in Gungahlin. The boys were all dressed by Sam Catanzariti. The dashing groom and his groomsmen and the beautiful bride and her bridesmaids fit the theme of 'elegance and romance' to a tee.

Theo was born in Greece and both he and Amber were raised in Canberra, so the happy couple were married in the heart of their hometown at Gold Creek Chapel, followed by a beautiful reception at Functions @ Federation, in Canberra's Federation Square. To keep the feeling of Greece alive the couple had DJ Stavros entertain their guests, as well as a Greek reading during the ceremony







Amber says a lot of her planning was done online, as she had a very specific idea of how her wedding should look, “We did the invitations, place cards, seating charts, menu’s, table decorations, lighting, wishing well… everything. I had something in my head so I spent a lot of time researching and hunting for exactly what I wanted. And it was perfect.”

One of Amber's most memorable moments of the day is also one of the sweetest, “We wrote our own vows and the day before the wedding, Theo wanted to change his to include, 'you are my best friend and my life'. When he got to that part in his vowels he was very emotional, needless to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.”

Amber and Theo spent their honeymoon in Greece, as well as stopovers in Dubai and SIngapore, meeting family members who couldn't make it to the wedding and soaking up the sun as they hopped through the Greek Islands. And Amber was kind enough to send us a few snapshots...
