Kylie may have had a sneaking suspicion Nick was going to propose on a night away in Brisbane, but the clever groom-to-be was two steps ahead of his high school sweetheart the entire time. While Kylie was busy snooping through his suitcase, Nick was hiding the ring in his shoe so she couldn't find it. “I remember saying to him 'I thought today was the day!' and next minute he was on one knee with the ring proposing,” Kylie recalls. To cap off their romantic evening the pair climbed the Story Bridge together to take in the Brisbane sights.

Kylie and Nick had over 2 years to plan their big day, which Kylie says was too much, “It couldn't come soon enough. We waited because we wanted to save for something really special. By the time the wedding came around we were very ready”. They spent a lot of time online researching and planning their wedding, so that their decorations, shoes, bomboniere, and even the dress were found online.

They had plenty of help from family of friends in planning the wedding, hen's and buck's celebrations and even their wedding night accommodation. Kylie also gives plenty of credit to their celebrant, Karen Miles, who helped out with everything from how to wear a buttonhole to how fast to walk down the aisle. Kylie says, “Choosing Karen was possibly the best decision we made. She pretty much doubled as the wedding coordinator on the day. She brings a warmth to special occasions like this, we loved having her there!”

The dress was custom-made to Kylie's measurements in a white strapless design with white lace overlay. It was finished off with a pastel coloured sash around the waist. Her bridesmaids wore tea length strapless dresses in the same colour as Kylie's sash, which were purchased from Forever New. The boys were all fitted out at Roger David in black suits, cream shirts and skinny black ties.

The ceremony took place at Coolibah Downs Chapel where a candle was lit in remembrance of Kylie's mum who passed away in 2006. The couple read their own vows and had a special bridal party member walk down the aisle, their Maltese Shitzu, Ellie. The reception followed at Quality Inn Mermaid Waters, and was full of special touches that helped make Kylie and Nick's wedding day complete. They had tables named after their favourite romantic movies, like The Notebook and Love Actually, gorgeous vehicles from Gold Coast Luxury Vintage Car Hire, and Gingerbread people wedding favours with their guest's names on them that doubled as place cards. The even took secret dance lessons, in the lead up to the wedding, to wow their guests during the first dance.
