They say perfection is impossible but for Julia and Luke, on their wedding day, the impossible was achieved.

After a seven-year courtship that began with a chance meeting through friends of friends at a Brisbane pub while watching the shocking images of 9-11, Luke and Julia could hardly believe their big day had come around so quickly. With the memories of that night still an often-spoke about subject among their friends, the realisation that they were about to embark on a life journey together for the rest of their lives had both been looking forward to their wedding day with a mixture of anticipation and excitement.

"With so much planning, cost and emotions involved in the development of our wedding, it was so relieving and comfortable to know that we had entrusted the services of true professionals," Julia reminisces. "We were married at my alma mata, All Hallows, and the chapel there is second to none in Brisbane. It is so exquisitely beautiful and just added to the emotion and beauty of the day. Being my mother's old school, it represented a bond with tradition, which is what weddings are all about."

After photos taken on the Brisbane River and cityscape, all adjourned to the Royal on the Park for an evening of celebration. "Again, this was important to Luke and I, as the Royal was the same place where my parents had their reception," muses Julia. "And again, the professionalism and creativity of the staff at the Royal on the Park was second to none; as with all receptions there were a few little hiccups beforehand, but through their tireless efforts, a first-class evening was had by all 110 guests." With a classic theme of white-on-white, Julia wore a modern, Grecian gardenia-coloured dress with a hand-designed three-metre long veil, with her bridesmaids wearing mink coloured, silk cocktail dresses. The groom and groomsmen continued the classic theme by wearing simple but elegant dinner suits.

The memories of their special day are long-lasting thanks to their wonderful photographer, Carol Slater of Carol Slater Photography. "There are lots of things that you can spend money on with a wedding, but I knew that when choosing a photographer, quality was not something I was going to skimp on," quipped Luke. "In Carol, not only did we get an experienced, calm and flexible professional, but someone whose support and guidance was appreciated by all, before, during and after the wedding. She is our first recommendation to any of our friends and family who are now enjoying planning their weddings."

With both being school teachers and coming to the end of a busy term, Luke and Julia were glad to leave the hustle behind as they travelled to New Zealand's South Island for an unforgettable two-week honeymoon, enjoying it so much, they are planning on a return trip.
