danielle bannister + benjamin potter: 14 June 2008, Hyatt Hotel, Canberra | | | After the proposal had been made and the ring was on the left hand, Danielle knew it was time to start making some serious decisions as to the location of where she would soon to become Mrs Benjamin John Potter. “We chose to have our ceremony and reception at the Hyatt Hotel as this meant the wedding party could book into the hotel the night before and all the wedding day preparations could be done on location.” Danielle also realised by having the reception and ceremony at the same location meant saving on hiring transport from one venue to another. The soon to be married couple were also conscious of the unreliable Canberra weather so having their ceremony inside the Hyatt Ball Room left nothing to chance. As their ceremony was at 4pm, their photographer, Steven from Creative Image Photography suggested having their bridal party photos before the ceremony which provided the couple with some amazing photos. “This also meant that our guests were not left to entertain themselves for hours after the ceremony. It also gave the wedding party time together to relax and have some fun over sparkling wine and happy snaps before the ceremony,” remembers Danielle. When it came to the finer touches of the event, Danielle was highly organised and ready to create her dream wedding. “There are so many wonderful ideas out there it’s easy to get snowed under. My way was to make a scrap book of my likes and dislikes and took it along to all of my appointments so the suppliers could get an idea of what i wanted and what was my style. I wanted a consistent look throughout my wedding, so I used Erindale Florist who were able to create some beautiful flowers which matched the bridal party's attire. We decided that the cake was not as important to us as other parts of our wedding, so we deliberately chose to understate this part of the event with a simple white mud cake with red ribbon, which was just what we wanted.” The dress and the suit were an easy find for Danielle as well. “I found Nouveau Riche to be the best bridal boutique for quality and range. The dresses are absolutely magnificent and the range, endless. The women at Nouveau Riche certainly have a talent when it comes to picking the perfect wedding dress for each individual. When it came to the suit we found John Hanna to have a great range of suits for hire. They are of high quality and very reasonably priced. They were very helpful and were able to arrange for the groomsmen ties to be made out of the same material as the bridesmaids dresses, says Danielle. |
