Kosta was taken with Elena from the moment he set eyes on her across a crowded dance floor. Elena’s friends pointed out the mysterious guy that could not stop staring at her but, being too shy, she didn’t approach him. The next day, however, Elena could not get him out of her head. When she described the cute guy and a few of his friends from the club that she recognised to her sister-in-law, little did she know that her sister-in-law was about to play cupid.

A month later and the incident long forgotten, Elena was invited to a dinner party at her sister-in-laws. Surprisingly, so was Kosta. She describes her initial reaction to seeing her mystery man, “I could not believe my eyes and my stomach instantaneously filled with butterflies. I soon found out though that it was all a conspiracy. My sister-in-law knew Kosta’s cousin so they had both arranged for us to meet. Kosta asked me out and we hit it off from that moment on,” said Elena.

The pre-wedding celebrations soon got into full swing. Elena’s mother-in-law organised a unique kitchen tea, centred on a Tupperware party. This gave Elena an opportunity to get some great items for the kitchen plus to gather all her friends and family around in a relaxed environment. This kitchen tea was followed by a hen’s night. After her friends gave her some great presents, they played games and danced all night. Not to be left out, a buck’s night for Kosta ensured he had a great night out with the boys.

For their wedding day, Elena and Kosta decided on a theme of feathers, crystals and a colour theme of dusty rose. Elena explains that the themes were incorporated into “my handmade invitations, my dress, the bridesmaids and flower girl’s hair, plus the crystal accessories, which I also made. In addition, the groomsmen’s buttonholes had three or four feathers with a pink rose. Crystal candelabras were incorporated into the reception at Kalymnian Brotherhood Hall and napkins were rolled, wrapped with a ribbon and decorated with feathers. I made 700 of these the week before the wedding. The overall effect of the colour contrast in the table decorations looked glamorous and everyone still comments on how beautiful they were. I wouldn’t change anything about our day. The day reflected the time and effort I had put into making the day beautiful and memorable and so it was all worth it,”

Elena finishes “I knew Kosta was the one but I still tease him about that first night at the club.”
