This Real Life Bride was sent to us from An Island Hideaway, on South Stradbroke Island, who chose Ange as their 2010/2011 Bride of the Year. “We chose Ange because not only is she beautiful on the outside, she is beautiful on the inside. You feel at ease in her presence and she just loved, loved, loved being a bride” - Michele, An Island Hideaway.
Ange & Luke met three years before their wedding, at work, where Ange was charged with showing Luke the ropes at his new place of employment. It didn't take Luke long to realise he had met his soul mate. And when he decided to ask her to marry him, Luke couldn't even wait until they got to dinner. "It was our anniversary, Luke typically couldn’t hold such a big surprise under his hat so popped the question on one knee while we were getting ready to go out for dinner," says Ange.

The venue choice was always obvious for Ange, having spotted and fallen in love with An Island Hideaway two years before she was married there. She says, “We really wanted to avoid having one of those weddings where everyone sits around in their designated seats not mingling or having a great time. An Island Hideaway forces all your guests to board a boat and be taken away from their lives on the mainland for a night. And I think that really had an effect on our guests ability to let their hair down. Right from the boarding of the boat everyone knew they were doing something special.”

The theme was 'rustic glam', which was created beautifully with a pink, latte, brown and cream colour scheme. Ange wore a white, one shoulder, Anna Marie & Mr John gown, and incorporated a splash of her pink colour scheme into her outfit with a flower-covered headpiece from Etsy store; Pris. Her bridesmaids wore chocolate brown gowns from Mr K. And the Groom and his groomsmen all wore latte-coloured suits.

The happy couple were married by Gary Taylor in an intimate ceremony in front of 49 of their closest friends and family. Ange's dad wasn't able to make it to the wedding from the UK, so her brother stepped in to walk her down the aisle. And the groom surprised everyone, including the bride, as he dipped her for their first kiss as husband and wife.

After the ceremony they were whisked away to the surf side of the Stradbroke Island for photos, and Ange described their time alone with photographer Naomi V as her favourite part of the day. “To be honest, my favourite moments were getting into the jeep with my champers and heading over to the other side of the island for photos. It was just Luke & I, Naomi & our driver. It gave us time to ourselves, to share the moment…it was bliss…”
