Be very careful and wary of fake tans! They can work beautifully but they can also go terribly wrong and there’s nothing the bride or bridesmaid can do about it except turn up orange on the day. Always seek a professional who will work with your skin tones. I’ve seen lovely results even just using a moisturiser with a summer glow.

Ask your best man & chief bridesmaid to help the photographer with your group photos. They will know who everyone is and be able to see if anyone is missing from the all important family group shots. This way no-one will be left out.

If you are holding your ceremony in full sun, try and position yourself and your groom with the sun behind you to avoid squinting and harsh sunlight in your face.

If possible make sure you are getting ready in a nice, clean place. If you want beautiful photographs think about the setting of your photos! So many times we show up and the place where the bride is getting ready is dingy or cluttered with mess. If you are getting ready in a hotel try to organise a joining room so one can keep all your belongings in one room and keep the other room clean and clutter free for photos!

Book your photographer in advance! Apart from securing your favourite photographer, we also help you put times in place – from getting ready through to the reception. I find brides are so relieved once this is set as they can then organise times for hair and makeup, flower delivery, car hire and even scheduling their ceremony time. Booking your photographer early ensures you have left enough time for your photography so you can have fun and enjoy the experience, before the sun sets.

We love to suggest that couples consider an E-Session (engagement session) before their big day. It is a great way for them to get to know their photographer better, understanding how that person works and feeling comfortable being themselves (as individuals and as a couple) in front of the camera. We find that when couples opt for an E-Session they are so much more comfortable and confident on the actual day. It’s a great trial run for the wedding (plus they end up with some pretty awesome images of the two of them).

Drink lots of water in the weeks before your wedding. Skin is a reflective surface and the more water you drink beforehand, the better your close-up pictures will turn out.
