Located on the Darling Downs, Oakey offers its visitors rural space and a relaxed atmosphere. Situated half an hour north of Toowoomba, Oakey, like much of the Darling Downs, was originally an agricultural settlement.

The town's historical feel shines through its grand life size bronze statue of Bernborough, prize winning horse of the 1940's. Just a short drive from Oakey is Brookvale Park, 40 hectares of animal and flora reserve, regional wineries and restaurants featuring fresh local produce and the finest beef.
