beauty treatments

It is important for everyone in the bridal party to follow a strict skin regime leading up to the wedding.

Well-hydrated and moisturised skin is much better for make-up. If you really want to pamper yourself there are a number of day spas to make you feel and look great. If you have any problems with your skin do something about it at least six months before the wedding. There are hundreds of treatments out there, so do your research to find what's best for you.

Waxing
If you need any eyebrow or other facial waxing do it at least a couple of days before the wedding. Definitely do not wax on the day or even the day before because it makes it hard to apply make-up and can result in blotchy or inflamed skin. Remember to include your bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride in waxing appointments to ensure they’re ready for the wedding.

Tanning
Avoid excessive sunbathing as this can age skin and be careful when using a tanning accelerator as improper use can result in a disaster! Also use products your skin is used to in the weeks leading up to the wedding, there is nothing worse or more stressful than breaking out a week before the big day. Also, these do it yourself tans are often uneven and can leave permanent stains on your wedding dress.

A healthy looking tan on your wedding day, however, can be a finishing touch to your gown and emphasise that natural glow. These days you can get a damage free tan from a range of salons and day spas, a better option than do it yourself tan. There are a number of tanning techniques available, a good idea is to trial a few in the months leading up to your wedding. Remember DHA is what produces a long term tan, while bronzer produces an instant tan.

Top Tanning Tips
Before Tanning:
  • avoid oil based products;
  • exfoliate, shave and moisturise.
After tanning:
  • wait four to six hours before showering or swimming;
  •  moisturise daily, especially after showering;
  • avoid exfoliating until you are ready to tan again;
  • salt water and chlorine will affect the life of your tan.

Sometime during the hectic schedule remember to take time out to rejuvenate yourself. Pampering and relaxing could and should start the night before the wedding. Get together with your bridesmaids either in your home or hotel and enjoy a night of indulgence and pampering. There are a number of beauty therapists who specialise in packages which involve them breaking out the bubbly, filling the air with the calming scent of relaxing oils and gentle music. Massages, foot spas and a warm, candlelit bubble bath complete the picture. Afterwards you should all feel totally relaxed and able to sleep the whole night through and awake totally refreshed.

Pre-wedding pampering packages lengthen the whole wedding experience and maximise the special time you spend with family and close friends. It helps calm last minute nerves, anxiety and exhaustion after a really hectic week of final preparations – this option applies to the groom an his groomsmen too!
