“Rohan and I met through work, he had hired my company Red PR to do the launch of his pub, we hit it off right away and I was trying to find out if he was single to set him up with a friend. But then I thought he may have liked me when his PA said, “ Rohan was right you do always wear pink”. After the project was over he asked me out for dinner and I wasn’t sure if it was a work dinner or personal, but then he changed the location for dinner to his house so I figured it must be personal. I made the mistake of saying I would bring the wine which is crazy when the man owned pubs so I then took four bottles because I couldn’t decide what to take. When I arrived he had a huge bunch of pink flowers on the table, he was wearing a pink shirt and his apartment overlooked the city and the Story Bridge which was lit up for breast cancer month with pink lights – we started dating after that very first dinner. Three months later he took me to Italy for Christmas and the following Christmas Day we got engaged.
After looking at every venue in South East Queensland for our wedding we decided on Noosa as both of our families have holidayed at Noosa every year and we would go up there for weekends often, so it had a lot of special memories. Bistro C was the perfect location as it was right on the beach and they had a sensational wine and food selection, which was really important to us. We had a three day wedding with a cocktail party on the Friday night, the wedding Saturday and a brunch at Sails at Noosa on the Sunday.
Originally we hired a wedding coordinator as I am so busy with my business, however, in the end running events every day for my clients I really had to take over the process to ensure it met my expectations. The theming was really important to me that it was reflected through everything from our latte and rose lace and feather Angels Dreaming invites. This was followed through to the flowers with feathers cascading out of the roses, to the bridesmaids dresses in latte and rose to the cake, to the wedding books and the latte and rose coloured cocktails on arrival. When we decided to use feathers as a feature we didn’t think about the fact that bird flu would make it very hard to get what we wanted, so my poor mum drove all over Brisbane to find enough feathers for all the centre pieces.
Leading up to the wedding we had a white themed engagement party, where everyone wore white, we had white cocktails, white flowers and white cup cakes. We also had two bridal showers and a hens and bucks party. We really made the most of the celebrations. We played a video of Rohan and I growing up till we met and then the two of us together as guests arrived and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Our honeymoon was in Hawaii and Vegas – we had an absolute ball relaxing in Hawaii first and then having fun in Las Vegas.
