A rush of excitement and adrenalin overwhelmed Katrina as her name was drawn from the barrel on Sunday 21st January 2007 at the Your Local Wedding Guide Brisbane Bridal Expo. Winning a BellaDonna wedding gown by Wendy Makin, suit hire from Spurling Formalwear, and a lovely engagement photography package from Studio Impressions was a fantastic start to her wedding plans. “I still can’t believe how lucky I was. I felt like the luckiest girl alive!” Katrina said.
Katrina and Joseph met each other in high school. Their high-school romance continued for 7 wonderful years, until Joseph proposed to Katrina following her 26th Birthday on a romantic holiday in the Whitsundays. “Joseph finally popped the question while we were at Hayman Island. He had organised for us to be dropped off by boat to a secluded sandy island with a beautiful champagne picnic at sunset. As we watched the stunning sunset over the water, he got down on bended knee and asked me to marry him.”
Mt Tambourine, in the Gold Coast Hinterland was the perfect location for Katrina and Joseph’s wedding. The ceremony was held in the Mt Tambourine Gardens Chapel, with their wedding reception held in the Rainforest Pavilion located in the gardens. Celebrant Janice Hancock conducted the ceremony while violinists from Highly Strung Quartet played in the chapel.“ It was a beautiful ceremony. It symbolised the two of us coming together and supported our romantic theme for our wedding. It was just perfect!” said Katrina.
Harpist Janice Preece from Carisma serenaded the 45 guests while they enjoyed sumptuous canapés and pre-reception drinks in the Mt Tamborine Gardens. Meanwhile, Katrina and Joseph had photos taken by Tom Baker Photographics at hang-glide point at Mt Tambourine overlooking the quaint Beaudesert valley below. “It was just how I had imagined. We wanted everything in our wedding to symbolise love and romance. We had violinists in the chapel, a harpist in the gardens, and even love symbols on wine bottles and wine stoppers.”
Wedding guests thoroughly enjoyed Master of Ceremonies and comedian John Boyle, from John Boyle Entertainment during the reception. “He was the best thing I had organised, he was worth every cent, and made our evening!” Stunning floral arrangements from Floribunda Flowers decorated the Rainforest Pavilion, and guests enjoyed a delicious Sticky Fingers Cakes wedding cake.
To continue Katrina’s run of good luck, it even rained briefly on her wedding day. “I remember being woken up by heavy rain at 5am and thinking ‘Oh no!’ People say that rain on your wedding day is meant to bring you good luck – and it did! I already had plenty of luck winning the prizes from the expo, and then had even more luck when the rain cleared in time for our ceremony.” |
