| Hayley and Matthew celebrated their marriage vintage-style in Brisbane. Inspired by the beautiful art deco interior of Tattersall’s Members Dining Room, all aspects of the wedding reflected this style. Hayley’s silk satin backless gown in latte was vintage inspired and in place of a veil, she wore a handmade fascinator of cream and latte feathers with latte netting attached to a gorgeous antique pearl brooch. Her earrings were 1920's antique teardrop pearls, a wedding gift from her husband, Matthew. In keeping with the vintage theme, he wore traditional white tie tails finished with a hand-tied bow tie.
The flowers, by Glenda Pradella, included amazing yellow, apricot & brick orange tulips in recognition of Matthew's father's Dutch heritage. The tulips were teamed with bright yellow Calla lilies, which were very popular during the 1920's era.
Following their wedding ceremony at St Stephen’s Catholic Cathedral in Brisbane, 101 guests joined Hayley and Matthew at the prestigious Tattersall’s Club for dinner. Their cake, from Cake That! was a traditional three-tier American style wedding cake. The bottom two tiers were white chocolate & raspberry mud cake and the top tier traditional fruitcake. The top and bottom tiers were decorated in white 'quilting' designed to tie in with the art deco theme.
Matthew met Hayley in April of 1998. Their eight-year courtship even included 18 months of a long-distance relationship when Hayley was transferred to Maryland in USA. Both avid travellers, Matthew finally proposed to Hayley last November while they were holidaying in Vietnam and Cambodia. Matthew booked out an entire restaurant in one of their favourite Vietnamese destinations, the beautiful seaside village of Hoi An. Consequently, in lieu of bomboniere, they donated funds to two charities on behalf of their guests - CARE Australia and Oxfam.
