The theme for Fleur and Rohan’s wedding was antique glamour, in latte and rose with jewels and feathers. “Amazing rose lace and latte invitations from Angels Dreaming in Sydney invited our guests to a weekend of wedding festivities. On Friday night we held a cocktail party at our beachfront penthouse, the wedding on Saturday and a wedding brunch at Sails on the Sunday,” said Fleur.
Fleur and Rohan were married at the Anglican Church at Sunshine Beach as they were concerned about the elements of the beach affecting their ceremony. “It hadn’t rained in Queensland in years but Brisbane was almost flooded at our engagement party on the Brisbane River so our emergency wet weather plan had needed to come into action. On our wedding day it started raining at one point, so I was glad we had moved inside. We have so many special people in our life that we wanted to include so as opposed to prayers and religious readings we had friends read love poems throughout the ceremony. I wrote a majority of the ceremony as we wanted it to be about love, friendship and us and make it very personalised. We had our band, My Ninger Lover, play at the church and reception. We wanted love songs sung in the church so I walked down the aisle to “At Last” by Ella Fitzgerald,” said Fleur.
It was important for Fleur to set a romantic atmosphere at their reception. “We did this through the use of candles, roses and feathers everywhere. Our table decorations were massive cocktail glasses filled with rose and latte roses and massive feathers. The feathers were very hard to find because of bird flu but my mum drove all over Brisbane to get enough feathers for every table. The bonbons were beautiful rose soaps for the ladies and a bottle stopper for the gentlemen. Special female guests were given pink parasols as an individual gift from me. A highlight of the wedding was a slide show of images of both of us growing up and then of the two of us together – we had grown men crying over it!” finishes Fleur.
Bistro C, on the beach at Hasting Street, was the perfect location and they allowed the couple to serve a special selected menu and a huge range of wines and cocktails. The menu had beautiful seafood selections as well as meat and chicken with all their signature dishes. We also had cocktails in the colours of our theme, rose and latte and Bistro C made our beautifully rich chocolate mousse wedding cake, which had cascading roses all over it. |
