Keeping Your Wedding Day Cool

It's a widely held notion that a wedding can be one of the most stressful times of ones life. But with some careful planning and self preservation your lovely wedding day needn't be a reason to cause your brow to furrow (too much). Here are a few basics to help you through, keep them handy!

Pick Your Battles
We all know that it pays to surround yourself with positive, helpful people - especially during times of stress - and wedding planning is no exception. Welcome help from those who are willing to give it, and don’t feel bad about politely excusing yourself from dealings with anyone toxic. Don’t feel like you have to play the middleman - distance yourself as much as possible from squabbles and spars between family and friends.

Stay Positive
Harness the power of positive thinking to keep yourself in an upbeat mood. Roll with the punches and try to keep a level head, even when things take a turn for the worse. It’s a positive attitude that will save you from a melt down.

Look After Yourself
Keep a balanced diet, stick to your regular exercise regime (or now might be a good time to implement one), and remember to take some time out when you need it. Listen to your body and don’t push yourself too far - it’s a long drop off the pre-wedding cliff and a steep climb to get back to the top in time for the big day.

Keep Organised
Diaries, calendars, to-do lists - these are your new best friends. Use social networking sites like Pinterest or Lover.ly to bookmark and organise your ideas online, and keep a notepad close by your side so you can jot down strokes of brilliance throughout the day. Keeping your schedule spick and span will allow you to rest easy in the lead-up to the big day.

Focus On The Now
Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. It may feel like everything is leading up to your wedding day, but remember that it’s sometimes the journey that is the most exciting part. Try to enjoy the little things in the lead up to the wedding as much as you’ll enjoy the event itself. And reflect. There's no problem so large that it can't be solved by stepping out of the wedding planning circle for a few hours, now is the time to refocus on what's really important. Perspective is very useful for this!
